The Keys Born of Water shrine quest in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom presents players with a unique elemental puzzle located in the West Necluda region. Players can initiate this challenge by speaking with a Steward Construct near the Squabble River to unlock the hidden Jochisiu Shrine. Successfully completing the quest requires creating and reshaping ice blocks to match precise slot dimensions on nearby altars.

Finding the Quest Location

To begin this quest, travel directly northeast from the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower toward the Squabble River area. Look for an open shelter structure cut into the hillside near coordinates 0945, -1903, 0017 where the Steward Construct resides. Interacting with the construct triggers the riddle requiring keys born of water to reveal the shrine above.

Creating and Crafting Ice Keys

Players must head to the adjacent river body to generate solid ice slabs using ice-based materials or Zonai devices. Utilizing a Frost Emitter or combining Ice Fruit with arrows allows you to quickly produce large ice blocks in the water. Ultrahand can then be used to lift and transport these icy slabs back toward the three altar slots.

Fitting the Altars and Melting Ice

The first altar slot fits a standard full-size ice block without requiring any physical modifications. However, the remaining two indents demand smaller key sizes that require careful melting techniques using fire sources. Briefly exposing the ice blocks to a campfire or Flame Emitter reduces their size until they fit securely into the designated wall slots.

Unlocking the Jochisiu Shrine

Once all three custom-shaped ice blocks are inserted into their corresponding altars, the mechanism triggers a short cutscene. The Jochisiu Shrine will manifest directly above the shelter, allowing players to reach it easily using the Ascend ability. Inside, players can claim a Big Battery from the treasure chest alongside a Light of Blessing without facing further puzzles.
